As both my husband and I are in full time employment it will be very difficult for us to utilise early years education conveniently. In order to we would have to consider:
a) go part time in order to be able to drop-off/ pick-up at the times dictated which would in turn would mean we would loose income in an already difficult economic climate
b) pay for wrap around care privately which would be more expensive than our current charges for full time nursery place- again loosing out financially
c) not utilise early years education at all & keep our daughter in private nursery which would not effect us financially but would potentially make our daughters transition to primary school more difficult than those children have been able to take up the early years education.
We would welcome a change to policy which would enable us to have more flexibility like Newport council which would be much more convenient as I work 35 mins away from home. Especially as one of the reasons we moved to Penarth as we understood the schools were excellent it is disappointing to realise we are likely to be penalised due to the fact we both work full time.
